Make Sheffield Beautiful Again: Climate Rebels Paint the Streets of Sheffield

- Extinction Rebellion Sheffield will spread the climate call to action by gifting Sheffield

a vibrant piece of climate art with the help of proud Sheffielders.

- Paint the Streets of Sheffield is to take place on Saturday 30th of March from 11am

along busy routes in Sheffield, culminating outside the Town Hall.

Our aim is to keep the climate emergency firmly in the spotlight and inform people of

Extinction Rebellion’s International Week of Action that will commence on April 15th, when

thousands of ordinary people around the world will stand up for their planet.

We will achieve this aim through the installation of a semi-permanent piece of

environmental art in the heart of our city. We invite all who are interested to stop by to

speak to Extinction Rebellion activists about how they can get involved in the movement

and join us as we engage in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience around the world. Jade

Clarke, Paint the Streets of Sheffield Coordinator says “realise your power and join the

rebellion. We can insist on altering our systems and cultures to become regenerative. Our

future is our’s to shape. Business as usual will not hold. We can’t wait for action, we are the

action.”

Extinction Rebellion welcomes all those who demand a better tomorrow free from climate

catastrophe.

About Extinction Rebellion:

Time has almost entirely run out to address the ecological crisis which is upon us, including

the 6th mass species extinction and abrupt, runaway climate change. Societal collapse and

mass death are seen as inevitable by scientists and other credible voices, with human

extinction also a possibility, if rapid action is not taken.

Extinction Rebellion believes it is a citizen’s duty to rebel, using peaceful civil disobedience,

when faced with criminal inactivity by its Government.

Extinction Rebellion’s key demands are:

- The Government must tell the truth about the ecological emergency, reverse

inconsistent policies and work alongside the media to communicate with citizens

- The Government must enact legally binding policy measures to reduce carbon

emissions to net zero by 2025 and to reduce consumption levels

- A national Citizens’ Assembly to oversee the changes, as part of creating a

democracy fit for purpose.
